WHY ORGANIC and RECYCLED?

As KAI LOU, we believe that people have the right to live in a nonpolluted, clean environment, sharing the wealth and resources of the planet, fairly. We know that our power will not be able to change governmental politics, global energy choices nor CO2 emmissions, but as individuals, we need to act for the sake of the generations ahead. Missoned with this, KAI LOU brand will always act with the awareness, for all relevant issues that correspond to the planet and the individuals who take part in it. Let's briefly summen, what we do for the case.

Why organic and recycled? What is the difference between organic and conservative cotton? We believe that people are misinformed about this issue. Common belief is that organic cotton is noncancerogenic compared to conservative cotton, which is wrong. Both of the cotton yarns are noncancerogenic produced under some standards. The case will be easier to understand, if we happen to give some numeric data about the organic and conventional cottons.  Cotton covers 2% of worlds' cultivated land, yet uses 25% of the world's insecticides, more than any other single major crop. Using high levels of agrichemicals, pollutes surface and underground waters, decreases biodiversity and shifts the equilibrium of the ecosystem due to use of the pesticides. On the otherhand, cultivating organic cotton has no polluting effects on the surface and underground waters and it conserves the biodiversity. Organically grown crops also yield soils with higher organic matter content, thicker topsoil depth, higher polysaccharide content and lower modulus of rupture; therefore reducing considerably soil erosion. Sustainable development is a pattern of resource use, that aims to meet human needswhile preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come. Sustainability requires that human activity only uses natures resources at a rate at which they can be replenished naturally. At this place, recycling comes to the stage. If we have the chance to reuse it, why do we need to plant it? Usually, recycled cotton yarns are produced from wastes from the manufacturing process of the garments. During the cutting, depending on the model and the pattern, an excess of 2 to 10% of non used fabric waste comes out. These wastes are collected and sent to the first step in the production cycle of yarn preparation; reprocessed and produced to be Recycled Cotton Yarns.

We hope that this small paragraph has explained you the reason for us to use organic and recycled yarns in our products. In the days ahead, we hope that individuals will take increasing action, claim for our planet, for the responsibilities that we need to fullfill for the coming generations.
